Counselling Service
Our philosophy includes caring both for the patients and for the people looking after them.
The St Teresa's Hospice Counselling service offers support to those who are facing diagnosis of, and life with, a life-limiting illness. This is an opportunity to take time and space to work through the emotional and psychological challenges that such a great change brings.
The same opportunity is available to relatives, friends and carers as they struggle to come to some understanding of what is taking place and how the future may be.
- We strive to offer variety, so that individuals have greater opportunity to access help in a way which sits well with them.
- Our services include a weekly Drop-In, where one-to-one confidential time is possible as well as some contact with other bereaved people, if this is desired, alongside our support workers.
- The Befriending services offers one-to-one confidential time by appointment with a trained Bereavement Support Worker.
Referrals are accepted from GPs District Nurses, Community Psychiatric Nurses, Hospital Staff, and other services (social and counselling), also from relatives and friends; plus, of course, there are self-referrals - possibly the most important.
