A Light in the Darkness

For many people, losing someone they care for will be the hardest thing they will ever have to experience. This year, over 30,000 people in Durham and North Yorkshire will be facing their first Christmas without someone they were close to.

Our upcoming Light up a Life event is part of a nationwide campaign by the hospice movement to support people dealing with the death of someone they care about.

In memory of a loved one, and in return for a small donation, people can dedicate a light on one of our special Christmas trees, which will be lit during a Dedication Service at the Dolphin Centre in Darlington at 3pm on 21st December. This event is just one of over 300 which will be taking place across the country.

The names of everyone to whom a light is dedicated will appear in a commemorative booklet at the Dedication Service, and every donor will receive a card with their loved one’s name inscribed. The Christmas trees will then stay lit at St Teresa’s Hospice through into the New Year.

To dedicate a light, or for more information on the Light up a Life Campaign or St Teresa’s Hospice, please call us on 01325 254321, or contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
