Hospice Heroes take to the streets

More than 40 Hospice supporters and volunteers took to the streets on Saturday 11th July to raise money and awareness for St Teresa’s Hospice as part of our summer Hospice Heroes campaign, when we remind the world that EVERYONE who supports a hospice is a hero!

The bed push team could use a lie-down, but Yvonne’s not giving up her spot!

Anyone passing through Darlington, Cockerton or Leyburn couldn’t fail to spot out dedicated volunteers on the streets, giving their time freely to collect donations in aid of the Hospice. Also out and about was a team of volunteers organised by Nancy Spencer also pushed a bed through the town and collected donation, with hospice founder Yvonne Rowe sat in the bed and enjoying the ride!

A public performance was given by Darlington Community Wind Band in the Cornmill Centre in aid of the Hospice, delighting anyone passing through the shopping centre.

Successful collections were also held in the Cockerton and Leyburn areas, and our wonderful Richmond Support Group will be holding theirs on 25th July in Richmond town centre.

The campaign has already raised over £2,600 for the Hospice, as well as generating awareness of our vital cause, and plenty more is expected to come. We’d like to offer a huge “thank you” to everyone involved who has helped to make this a success.
