A Night at the Musicals

Hummersknott Academy will bring a taste of the West-End to the West End of Darlington when they hold A Night at The Musicals on Friday 13th May.

Hummersknott Academy students show their enthusiasm during rehearsals.

Arranged by Mr Fairless of Hummersknott Academy, the event will also feature the Durham County Big Band, Tees Valley Youth Choir along with school children from Hummersknott, and Mowden Juniors.

Classic songs from a variety of popular, well-known West-End musicals will be performed.

Staff and students are giving up their spare time to rehearse for the show, which will be a first for the school.

The event will raise funds for St Teresa’s Hospice and will feature a raffle.

Speaking during the rehearsals Mr Fairless spoke of his hopes for the show: “I think the concert not only allows our students to perform songs they love, but to be part of a celebration for St Teresa’s also gives them a sense of pride for a charity in their local area. All involved love to perform and have been working hard to make it a fantastic performance for all.”

Tickets are available from and are priced at £6.50 adults, £5.00 students and concessions, and £20 for a family ticket (2 adults and 2 children).

Doors open at 6.15pm and the performance will begin at 7.00pm.
