Hospice goes to Hollywood

Movie making magic came to town in spectacular and splendid fashion at our annual Ball earlier this month.

Ball-goers, wearing spectacular themed dress, descended on Darlington Vauxhall dealer Sherwoods as the Chesnut Street site was transformed into a red carpet venue the envy of Hollywood.Almost 300 people supported the 20th Ball helping to realise more than £10,000 for St Teresa’s Hospice.

Fitting in with the theme ‘Anything Goes’, each table reflected a variety of images, from Hollywood musicals to Star Wars and Toy Story.

One of the most popular events of the social calendar, the St Teresa’s Ball has featured a host of themes over the past two decades, from Showboat to heroes and villains, Las Vegas to Casablanca, raising almost £200,000 to continue our work.

Chief executive Jane Bradshaw said: “We have a lot of fun planning the annual fundraiser and even more on the night. But it would not remain the success it undoubtedly is without the support of the community.”

Managing director of Sherwoods Alasdair MacConachie, who is also hospice president, added: “St Teresa’s Hospice is absolutely incredible in the work it does to support people and their families at very difficult times of their lives.

“I’m delighted to give them our continued support and thrilled so many people joined us on the night.”
