Bereavement Support

Our Bereavement Support Service looks after the emotional and practical needs of those left behind when someone dies after a terminal illness. We’re here to help you through this difficult time.

bereavementSupport

One to One support

The service is offered by our Family Support Team which includes:

  • Social workers
  • Counsellors
  • Volunteer support workers

We can provide you with practical advice and information or simply listen and support you.

Support for children and young people

  • We offer specialist support for children and young people when someone close to them has died following a terminal illness.
  • We provide space to talk and opportunities to understand and manage feelings in a safe and fun way.

Group Support

If you would find it helpful to share experiences and feelings with other bereaved people you can drop in to one of our group meetings. Why not come along and meet us for a chat over a cup of tea or coffee? Here are some quotes from people who have come to our ‘drop ins’:

  • “It’s good to know that I’m not alone in grieving. I was nervous at first but find it really helpful to know that others are there for me” Anon
  • “I found empathy, not sympathy, here” Gordon
  • “The thought of coming here has helped me to keep going” Anon
  • “I really enjoy coming to the drop-in. Since I lost my husband I have found there is life afterwards. The thing I enjoy the most is having conversations with different people and hearing that you are not the only one who has problems “ Sheila
