A Cracker of a concert!

Concert-goers are in for a cracker of a Christmas as St Teresa’s Hospice prepares to stage its seasonal spectacular of music and song.

St Teresa’s Hospice will host its annual Christmas Cracker Concert on Saturday, December 22, at the Dolphin Centre, Darlington.

The Yuletide extravaganza, which is celebrating its 18th year, will feature an evening of festive fun, entertainment and audience sing-alongs, with carols including O Come All Ye Faithful, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, We Wish You a Merry Christmas and many more.

Chief executive of St Teresa’s Hospice Jane Bradshaw said: “This lovely concert really marks the start of the Christmas celebrations and everyone at the hospice feels privileged that it is a fundraising event in aid of our cause.

“St Teresa’s Hospice is more than 30-years-old and the contribution it makes to local people continues to develop each year thanks to donations received. We provide day hospice, in-patient care, a Hospice at Home service, a Rapid Response Team and a Family Support service for patients, carers and other family members, all of which help people at some of their most distressing times.

“All of this is only possible due to the combined efforts of our staff, volunteers, the people of Darlington and District and everyone who donates their time and considerable expertise free of charge, resulting in a magical evening of music, songs and carols.”

Musical director John Forsyth MBE will conduct the St Teresa’s Sinfonia Choir and Orchestra featuring the Cleveland Philharmonic Choir, Cockerton Ladies’ Choir, Darlington Choral Society, Darlington SING Community Choir, Egglescliffe School Choir, Richardson Singers, Vocal Collective and Vocal Soul Community Choir.

Guest soloist Tom Smith, recipient of The Musicians Company Silver Medal 2017, will perform alongside the St Teresa’s Hospice Staff and Supporters Choir and the Egglescliffe Big Band.

“We are thrilled that our own hospice choir, inspired by this lovely event, will join the concert once again this year,” added Mrs Bradshaw.

“There will also be a chance to win a luxury hamper in our raffle and mulled wine and mince pies will be available on the night. I’m sure it will be another fabulous evening for the whole community.”

Tickets can be purchased in advance from the hospice, St T’s shops, the Dolphin Centre, or online at https://www.support.darlingtonhospice.org.uk/pages/christmas-cracker-concert.
