Christmas Tree Collection
Recycle your Christmas Tree and support
St Teresa’s Hospice to provide care next year
Our team of amazing volunteers will collect your real tree straight from your home, leaving you with no mess or hassle. Every tree recycled helps us continue providing compassionate care when it’s needed most.
This January, make saying goodbye to your real Christmas Tree a meaningful moment by supporting local hospice care. Our Christmas Tree Collection Service makes it easy for you to recycle your tree, in return for a donation to St Teresa’s Hospice.
We’ll be collecting trees on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th January 2026 across DL1, DL2, DL3, DL4 and DL5. Please note, we are unable to collect your tree if it is outside of these areas, and unfortunately your booking will be cancelled.
For more information, please read our FAQ section below or email us at hello@darlingtonhospice.org.uk.
You can view your collection area for your address via the interactive map below or on the link here. When booking, please select your route number from the drop down. If you’re unsure, select the closest one to your home and we can sort this out for you.

Frequently Asked Questions
To ensure we’re able to find your house and tree, we need to know your full address, the number of trees being collected and height of the tallest tree.
If your home is difficult to find or has a name instead of a number, please add any helpful information in the ‘additional information’ section on our booking form.
We will be collecting trees on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th January 2026.
Please make sure your tree is out by 8.30am on Saturday 10th January to ensure we can collect it. We can’t guarantee on which of the two days we will be collecting.
Please rest assured that if for some reason your tree can’t be collected on these dates, we will return to collect it as soon as possible.
Please leave it on your property, as close to the road as possible and ensure it can be easily seen. If you have to leave it on the pavement, please make sure it is not a safety hazard to others.
If it cannot be left in view, please include information on our ‘additional information’ section. Please ensure that your tree can be retrieved safely by our volunteers. Our volunteers are unable, under any circumstance, to enter your property (e.g. house, shed etc.).
Please ensure you have removed ALL decorations, tinsel and lights from your tree before you place it outside for collection. If your tree still has any decorations etc. on it when our volunteers arrive to collect it, they will be unable to take it away with them.
In the event that our operations are affected by factors outside of our control (including, but not limited to, severe weather which would make it unsafe to operate, vehicle breakdown, volunteer absence) we reserve the right to extend the collection period.
Should this happen, we will make every effort to communicate any change to the collection timescale to you directly, using the email you provided when booking, via announcements made on our website and on our social media pages.
Our volunteers will be working hard to get all trees collected on time. If you see our vans and volunteers, and they seem to pass by without collecting your tree, they may be on another planned route. As long as you’ve booked to have your tree collected, our volunteers will be back to collect it.
If your tree hasn’t been collected by Monday 12th January 2026, please email us at hello@darlingtonhospice.org.uk.
We can collect multiple trees from the same address however we need to know if you have more than one and what size it is.
If you would like us to collect more than one tree, we do ask that you make a donation for each tree. If you would like to book tree collections from more than one address, please return to this page to complete the booking form for each address.
Please do not leave cash donations on your tree!
We only collect trees that have been booked via our website which includes an option to donate. If you are unable to donate via our online form, please contact us and we will let you know how you can make your donation.
Our lovely supporters at Greenworx recycle your tree by turning it into chippings.
There are then used in areas such as parks or woodland areas and also used as a sustainable and renewable biomass fuel.
We are always keen to find new supporters who can provide financial or practical help with our Christmas Tree Collection Service.
