Bookings for our Christmas Trees 2022 is now CLOSED.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept bookings submitted at this time. This is to allow time to process all of the requests and to prepare the collection rounds for our wonderful volunteers!

Collections will take place over the weekend of Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th January 2022. Make sure your tree is out by 8.30am on Saturday 8th January to ensure we can collect it. We can’t guarantee which of the two days we will collect.  Please rest assured that if for some reason your tree can’t be collected on these dates, we will return to collect it on Monday 10th January.

What we are doing to ensure safety?

We are continuing with some Covid-19 safety measures this year to ensure the safety of everyone involved in our tree collection service, and the wider public:

  • St Teresa’s Hospice and Darlington Rotary have completed a full risk assessment to ensure trees can be collected safely. This risk assessment has been communicated to all volunteers undertaking tree collections
  • All trees are to be collected ‘Contact Free’, so make sure your tree is outside your property in plenty of time, and in an easily accessible and visible spot. This means that you do not have to be in when we collect your tree, and that we do not have to come to your door or inside your property.
  • Everyone involved in tree collections will be following the latest health and safety guidelines as set out by the Hospice, and as informed by Government guidance.


Where should I place my tree?

Where possible leave it on your property close to the end of the road where it can be easily seen. If you have to leave it on the pavement please ensure it is not a safety hazard to others. If it cannot be left in view, please include information on where it is by emailing us back. Please ensure that your tree can be retrieved safely by our volunteers. Our volunteers are unable, under any circumstance, to enter your property (e.g. house, shed).

When will my tree be collected?

We are collecting over the weekend of Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th January. Due to the sheer volume of trees to be collected we are unable to give an exact time when your tree will be collected. Please ensure your tree is out to be collected by 08:30am on Saturday 8th January.

What should I do if you don’t collect my tree on the expected days?

Our collectors will be working hard to get all trees collected on time.

If you see our vans and volunteers, and they seem to pass by without collecting your tree, they may be on another round.

In the event that our operations are affected by factors outside of our control (including, but not limited to, severe weather which would make it unsafe to operate, vehicle breakdown, volunteer absence, Government Covid-19 restrictions) we reserve the right to extend the collection period. Should this happen, we will make every effort to communicate any change to the collection timescale to you directly, using the email you provided when booking, and via announcements made here, on our website, and at our social media channels.

If your tree hasn’t been collected on either Saturday 8th or Sunday 9th January, please rest assured we’ll be back for it as soon as we can.

Can I donate by leaving cash on the tree?

For the safety of our volunteers, due to the pandemic and current Government restrictions, we are making all collections ‘Contact Free’. Please do not leave cash donations on your tree. If you would prefer not to donate via our online form, please contact us and we will let you know how you can make your donation.

What happens to my tree?

It is taken away and shredded; by recycling your tree, it also saves on waste!

Could I or my company support the Tree Collection Service?
