If you have booked your tree(s) for collection – thank you! – please refer to the information below.
We’re pleased to offer the Christmas Tree Collection Service once again. Due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19 on our resources, we have had to limit the areas we can collect from, however, we are running the service as fully and as safely as we can. Collections will be carried out in Darlington and the surrounding villages only. Please refer to the table below to check which area your property is within:
|Area No.||Darlington Council Wards / Villages|
|6||Stephenson, Red Hall and Lingfield, Bank Top and Lascelles, and Eastbourne|
|7||Whinfield, Haughton and Springfield|
|8||Cockerton, Brinkburn and Faverdale|
|10||Northgate and Pierremont|
|11||North Road and Harrowgate Hill|
|12||Sadberge and Middleton St George|
Collections will take place over several days this year. Please make sure your tree is outside your property and ready for collection before 9am on the first date in your area to ensure we can collect it. We can’t guarantee which of the two days we will collect. Please rest assured that if for some reason your tree can’t be collected on the dates shown, we will collect it as soon as possible and by no later than Sunday 10th January.
Please note the dates of your collection area:
- Wednesday 6th & Thursday 7th January – Area No’s 2, 4, 9 and 12
- Friday 8th & Saturday 9th January – Area No’s 1, 3, 5-8 and 10-11
What we are doing to ensure safety?
We have implemented new measures this year to ensure the safety of everyone involved in our tree collection service:
- All trees are to be collected ‘Contact Free’, so make sure your tree is outside your property in plenty of time, and in an easily accessible and visible spot
- We’re limiting the crew on the vans to 2 people, so they can safely socially distance
- All crew will be working in their own bubble
- Everyone involved will be wearing masks, and provided with gloves, sanitising wipes, hygiene sprays and PPE
- We have completed a full risk assessment to ensure trees can be collected safely
Where should I place my tree? Where possible leave it on your property close to the end of the road where it can be easily seen. If you have to leave it on the pavement please ensure it is not a safety hazard to others. If it cannot be left in view, please include information on where it is by emailing us back. Please ensure that your tree can be retrieved safely by our volunteers. Please ensure your tree is out to be collected by 09:00am.
What should I do if you don’t collect my tree on the expected days? Our collectors will be working hard to get all trees collected on time, but if numbers exceed our expectations, a few collections will take place on Sunday 10th January. If your tree hasn’t been collected by 5pm each day, please rest assured we’ll be back for it at the next available opportunity. If by any chance your tree is not collected at all over the days indicated, please contact us on [email protected]darlingtonhospice.org.uk or 01325 254321.
What happens to my tree? It is taken away and shredded; by recycling your tree, it also saves on waste!
