St Teresa’s Hospice is helping families who have suffered a bereavement, or those in need of help with years of accumulated storage, with a house clearance service that is also raising valuable funds.
Last year the Hospice, which provides free care and support to residents of South Durham and North Yorkshire, launched a house clearance service to help solicitors handling probate cases and individuals both locally and living abroad.
The house clearance service is also proving popular with families, some of who live as far away as Canada and Australia, who for whatever reason have properties to clear.
“Any house clearance can be daunting, and sorting loved ones’ houses can be very emotional,” said St Teresa’s Hospice house clearance manager Paul Wheatley.
“We have the skills to tackle any job and a keen eye to spot items that can help us to raise much-needed money for our free hospice services.”
“We’re providing a very sensitive and bespoke service. Many local solicitors also use the scheme as they are supporting probate cases.”
“We do our very best to get the highest value from these kind donations” Paul said. “Any clothing that cannot be salvaged brings in extra money through recycling and a lot of the furniture is restored by our staff and volunteer team, to provide the hospice’s St T’s shops with attractive stock.”
Assessments are free, trained staff and volunteers can tackle any job and the donations made are essential for the Hospice to continue its vital work.
