There are many ways to remember someone special.
Many people choose to support St Teresa’s Hospice in memory of their friends and family, whether or not they were cared for by us. There are many ways you can support St Teresa’s Hospice in memory of a loved one or to have something to remember them by. By making a donation to St Teresa’s Hospice in memory of a loved one, you will be providing a lasting tribute and your kind gesture will enable us to continue to provide our free care and support to those who need it.

Donations in Lieu of Flowers
Many people prefer to ask friends and relatives to make a donation to support the work here at St Teresa’s Hospice, in lieu of flowers at a funeral service. Funeral Directors are usually happy to organise collecting the contributions and take responsibility for forwarding them to us. You can also request our St Teresa’s Hospice Collection Boxes which can be used to collect donations.
Events & Appeals
Fundraising events and appeals offer an opportunity to remember your loved one, and often provide a chance for you to do so with friends, family and work colleagues. We hold a series of events and appeals throughout the year, such as:
- National Light up a Life campaign and dedication service.
- Giving to Life Tree.
- Team events such as the Moonlight & Memories Walk and Santa Run, where groups can raise funds in memory of loved ones.
- The Memory Tree, supported by Darlington Building Society. The Memory Tree is located in the Inpatient Unit reception area and allows people the opportunity to remember a loved one by leaving an engraved leaf on the tree. We suggest a minimum donation for each leaf of £120 per year, in return for which the engraved leaf will be added to the Memory Tree for 12 months. After one year, donors can choose to leave the engraved leaf on the memory tree for another year or request to have it posted to them to keep.
Orders can be placed here.
- The Woodlands Walk memorial path.
If you want to organise your own event in memory of a loved please contact us. Our team are here to help, and will offer support and guidance as you plan your event. We will help you to promote your event, if requested, via our website and can provide collection boxes, posters and tickets where needed.
